HUNGARIAN JAZZ FESTIVAL – JAZZ CONCERTS IN BÁNK
Date/Time: September 13, 2025, Saturday, 5:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Unique rhythm, shared experience, cultural value
This year’s Hungarian Jazz Festival features one day of live music at the METTRIN Arts Center in Bánk.
The outstanding band musicians of the Hungarian jazz life are to give a concert on the shore of Lake Bánk, encircled by a magical landscape of natural beauty. They will showcase the diversity, fresh energy, and outstanding talents of the genre. During the event the Jazz Talent Award will also be handed over.
The Jazz Talent Award – founded by the Swing Jazz Culture Foundation – is awarded each year to a young, exceptionally talented jazz musician who deserves special attention not only for his/her instrumental skills, but also for the musical sensitivity and original vibe. The award ceremony will be one of the highlights of the event.
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING:
Voice and Bass – Ági Lakatos and Tibor Csuhaj Barna
This extremely rare and intimate voice-and-double bass duo is one of Hungary’s internationally renowned representatives of the jazz art form. They bring a unique blend of original compositions, jazz standards, and reinterpreted folk-pop songs to this feast of the Hungarian jazz arts. Their music is both sensitive and masterful – a real chamber music journey performed by two virtuosos.
Pluto Fusion Band – The power of multicultural fusion
Led by bass guitarist József Horváth „Pluto,” four musicians from different cultural backgrounds have created an unusual formation: Mike Gothard (guitar), Robert Szakcsi (keyboards), and Róbert Nagy (drums). The band’s energetic, genre-spanning songs reveal musical worlds that are rarely heard in Hungary – an exciting fusion that expands the boundaries of traditional jazz.
Richárd Révész Latin Sextet – Latin music and jazz beyond borders
The Richárd Révész Latin Sextet draws inspiration from Caribbean and Latin American music, producing authentic sounding, enhanced by the vocal dimensions of Cuban singer Yulaysi Miranda. The full line-up includes Richárd Révész (piano), Tibor Fonay (double bass, bass guitar), Gergely Tar (percussion), Mátyás Molnár (drums), Yulaysi Miranda (vocals), Elizabeth Herrera (flute) – brings a diverse, vibrant musical world to life on the METTRIN stage. Don Lázi Swingtet
Don Lázi Swingtet – The living tradition of swing
The band evokes the chic lifestyle of the Las Vegas club scene of the 50s and 60s – with unique instrumentation, virtuoso playing and subtle humor. They perform classics such as „Just a Gigolo” and „Sing, Sing, Sing,” while also unraveling their own musical world. The concert surely gets the audience swinging.
