The organic and modern METTRIN Events Centre in Bánk
The event hall, completed in 2023 is a stunning and modern creation, set in a natural environment where the forest meets Lake Bánk. The complex, designed by the architect Árpád Ferdinánd, is environmentally conscious and energy-efficient, with a spacious auditorium and shaded courtyard, which welcomes visitors all year-round. The building stands on pillars by the lake, and the connection with nature becomes palpable at first glance. The openness of the lower level allows the venue to be located outdoors, while the covered area ensures that events can run smoothly despite the vagaries of the weather. With a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, a multipurpose event hall and an unique light installation, every event held at METTRIN will have a distinctive atmosphere. A roof is folded atop steel pillars, creating a breathtaking scene with a reflection on the calm lake. It is an imaginative architectural language that expresses the soaring of jazz, like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings. It symbolises freedom, creativity and diversity. While not deliberately designed to replicate a specific shape, the structure conveys a sense of vitality in the forested nature that surrounds it.
The harmony of organic and modern elements is breathtaking. Organic elements suggest harmonious integration with the environment, while modern lines and shapes emphasize the progressiveness and durability of the building. The layout and design of the building ensure optimal space utilization while creating an ideal environment for any event with panoramic views. The combination of wood, glass, exposed concrete, and steel blends in with the lakeside nature, giving it a distinctive character. Steel columns lift the building to the height of the hill behind it, offering panoramic views. The openness of the lower level allows the space to extend outward, maximizing its use. The extended eaves ensure the comfort of events, even in inclement weather. With a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, a multipurpose event hall and an unique light installation, every event held at METTRIN will have a distinctive atmosphere.
The founder of the METTRIN Event Centre – Ferenc Karacs – is the organizer of the Louis Armstrong International Jazz Festival which has been held on the shores of Lake Bánk. To reignite the spirit of the jazz festival, the founder envisioned this event space. As a result, Lake Bánki has been used as a venue for weddings, gala dinners and concerts, and from 2025, a highly creative team will run it as an Arts Centre.
The complex offers accommodation, catering, events and art in one location, uniquely in Bánk. All guests can experience here the legendary Hungarian spirit of hospitality.
The Ametis Restaurant The Ametis Restaurant is part of the METTRIN Events and Arts Centre and is located in the area of the METTRIN. The elegant and exclusive atmosphere makes it the perfect choice for various events, be it weddings, family reunions or corporate events. Being part of the METTRIN Arts Centre, it is also suitable for accompanying events such as exhibitions, professional forums, screenings, meeting points.
